Importance of Bees

100's of crop species rely on pollination provided by bees, these crops make up approximately 1/3 of the U.S. diet. To germinate, these plants require the transfer of pollen from the male part of the flower (the anther) to the female part (the stigma). In the search of nectar, they leave behind grains of pollen, allowing plants to produce food.
